Cookie policy

1. What cookies are and what we use

Cookies and similar technologies, such as the browser's local storage (localStorage) and session storage (sessionStorage), make it possible to store small pieces of data on your device or read them. The law treats them all the same way, so this policy calls them all “cookies”.

The htvahetus.ee website does not set HTTP cookies. It only uses browser storage, with the first party data listed in section 2.

2. What we store on your device

None of this data is sent to our servers or to third parties, and none of it identifies you:

• “vahetus-consent”, local storage, necessary: stores your choice about preferences, the version of this policy and the date you chose. It lasts 12 months; after that we ask you again.
• “theme”, local storage, preferences (only with your consent): stores “light” or “dark” to remember on your next visits the mode chosen with the menu button. It lasts until you withdraw your consent, return to your system setting or clear the site data.
• “theme”, session storage, necessary: if you do not accept preferences and use the theme button, it stores your choice only while the tab is open. The browser deletes it when you close the tab.

3. No tracking, advertising or analytics

We do not use analytics, advertising, profiling or social media cookies or similar technologies, either our own or third party, and we do not include tracking pixels.

Fonts, images and styles are served from our own domain, with no calls to external services when pages load.

4. How you give, change and withdraw consent

On your first visit we show a notice with the buttons “Reject”, “Accept” and “Settings”. Rejecting is as easy as accepting, and the preferences option starts switched off. If you close or ignore the notice, we store nothing optional and the site works just the same.

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time with the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of every page. When you withdraw it, we immediately delete the stored theme. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of anything done before.

We will ask you again after 12 months or if we change the uses described in this policy. You can also delete this data at any time in your browser settings.

5. Contact form

Only when you submit the contact form does your browser send the form data to the Web3Forms service so that it reaches us by email. This does not set any cookies in your browser. How we handle that data is explained in the privacy policy.

6. The Vahetus application

The application, which is used with private access, stores in the browser or on the device only the session token and the minimum information needed to keep you signed in. This is strictly necessary storage, which does not require consent under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive. Signing out removes it.

7. Legal basis and your rights

This policy applies Article 5(3) of Directive 2002/58/EC on privacy and electronic communications, transposed in Estonia by the Elektroonilise side seadus (Electronic Communications Act), and Articles 4(11), 6(1)(a) and 7 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR). Necessary data is stored without consent because without it we could not provide the service you request; preferences are stored only with your freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous consent.

If you believe we have not respected your choice, you can lodge a complaint with the Andmekaitse Inspektsioon (Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate, www.aki.ee) or with the data protection authority in your country.

8. Changes and contact

If we ever start using other cookies, we will update this policy and ask for your consent before using them.
